Gentle yoga
A slower paced, gentle stretching class for improving flexibility and balance, and using breathwork and meditation to relax the body and refocus the mind.
Gentle yoga is suitable for beginners, people recovering from injury or anyone wishing to experience a more mindful practice with guidance and encouragement. Gentle stretches can help improve stiffness and ease joint pain, whilst relaxation can help people with busy lives to slow down and escape the stresses of daily life.
Props can be used to help the body stretch, support and move into a posture.

Strong yoga
This class combines Hatha and Vinyasa styles of yoga. Hatha postures are held for longer periods of time to build stamina and mental focus whilst a Vinyasa style will flow at a faster pace using your breath to transition from one pose to the next.
These classes are for people wanting more strength and flexibility. Postures can be more challenging than in Gentle Yoga classes, but there is always help and encouragement, without any pressure to move into a pose.
As in all of my classes, there is space to relax and restore the mind and body. Props can be used to help with alignment, strength and relaxation.

Chair yoga
A simple stretching, balance and relaxation class suitable for older adults, beginners to yoga, and people with mobility issues or injuries. This class is for anyone wanting to improve movement, balance and flexibility.
All exercises are seated on the chair or standing using the chair as a stable prop for balance if mobility allows. These classes are for people who have stiff muscles and joints and are looking for a safe and enjoyable way to exercise and connect with others.
Chair yoga is a positive and fun class with the intention to move the whole body on the chair, strengthen the muscles and help with cognitive skills, balance and co-ordination.

Yin yoga
Yin yoga postures are floor based and usually held for periods of 3-5 minutes to target the deep connective tissues such as fascia, ligaments and joints.
Yin yoga improves mobility in the joints, deepens flexibility, and relaxes the nervous system, often helping with sleep. It is perfect for people with busy or stressful lives as it gives you permission to slow down, relieve tension, improve flexibility and calm the mind.
Props such as bolsters and blocks are often used to help relax the muscles.
-

Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is often referred to as ‘Yogic deep sleep’ and is usually practiced lying down.
It is a guided meditation practice that slows the body and mind into a state of deep conscious relaxation. The mind will drift between waking and sleeping. Yoga Nidra is scientifically proven to help with stress and anxiety, promoting healing and better sleep.
Often lasting around 15-30 minutes it will be used in a longer, relaxing yoga session.

Yoga retreats
Mini Yoga retreats are available periodically during the year and usually last for 2 hours. In this time you will start with a Hatha style flow to stretch and warm up the body. This will be followed by Restorative and Yin postures to relax the muscles and stretch the fascia or deep connective tissue.
The retreat will end with a Yoga Nidra guided meditation for deep relaxation. Some retreats may have a Soundbath to end the session.
Please contact me for details of upcoming retreats.
